In 1764 King Louis XV of France gave Bishop Montmorency-Laval of Metz permission to found a glassworks in the village of Baccarat located in Lorraine in eastern France. Baccarat survived four foreign invasions and threee revolustions to remain in Baccarat, France as Compagnie des Cristalleries de Baccarat.
Baccarat has personified a certain image of French culture to the world.
Throughout the centuries, crystal signed by Baccarat has become synonymous with the social graces.
Most recently Baccarat has introduced a collection of crystal jewelry.
