Steven Lagos The Lessons of Lagos "Be Different, but Universal" Steven Lagos/Jeweler’s Circular Keystone Magazine At the age of 17, Steven Lagos started his jewelry career sweeping out the storeroom of a Philadelphia jeweler after school. After learning the business from an elderly Russian jeweler, Lagos began his own repair business at the age of 19 servicing important pieces from international salons. Since 1977 when Steven Lagos founded Lagos Design, his vision was to create museum quality jewelry that was both beautiful and distinctive, fun and easy to wear. In 1984 Steven Lagos and Ann King met by chance at a trade show in New York City. The two individual talents married and have worked together to create their world class design house. Drawing from inspiration from architectural and art deco themes, all Lagos jewelry is handcrafted and originates in Philadelphia's "Old City" at the Lagos Studio. Each piece of Lagos jewelry takes over 150 individual steps to craft and requires over 20 control inspections. Each collection is versatile, enhanceable, and interchangeable, giving the opportunity to create jewelry wardrobes dictated by an individual's own personal style. Steven Lagos jewelry is sold in a dozen countries on five continents, and is celebrated worldwide for its influential designs. |
